In order to use your Digital Input/ Digital Output channels with real hardware, you must patch your channels to a Digital Master.
First you must add a Digital Master (see: Adding boxes)
There are two ways you can patch channels:
Channel View
- In Build → Channels, select the Digital Input/ Digital Output channel you want to patch.
- At the bottom you will see Patching.
- Select the dropdown to choose from ports of any Digital Master you have added.
- You can choose empty channels or overwrite populated ones.
- You can search for channel names using the search bar.
- Once patched you can unpatch from here too.
Ports View
- Go to Connect → Select a Digital Master → Ports (ethernet icon)
- You will see a list of the 8 ports.
- The dots on the right show if anything is patched to the channel. GREEN for patched, GREY for empty.
- Click on a port to see the channels associated with it.
- Click on the dropdown on each channel to see all available Digital Input/ Digital Output channels that can be patched to that port.
- Click one of these channels in the dropdown to patch it to that channel.
- You can re-patch channels that are already patched elsewhere (it will tell you what port it is already patched to).
- You can search for channel names using the search bar.
