The Multi Master combines the capabilities of the Digital Master, Sensor Master and DC Master in a single box. It can connect to:

• Sensor inputs & 5v outputs — 5v powered digital or analog sensors, and 5v devices such as relays (Ports 1 & 2)
• Digital inputs & outputs — switches, buttons, contact closures, matrix keypads, and low-current 5v outputs such as LEDs (Ports 3 & 4)
• DC digital & analog outputs — maglocks, lights, motors, dimmable lights (Ports 5 & 6)

Port layout

What you will need

• RJ45 Breakout (for Sensor and Digital ports)
• Ethernet cable (CAT5e or CAT6 recommended)
• Flathead screwdriver
• Wire strippers (if required)

Sensor inputs (Ports 1 & 2)

Each Sensor port carries two sensor channels, giving you 4 sensor channels in total. Sensors use the 3-pin structure of signal, power and ground.

To connect a 5v sensor, screw the stripped wires into the RJ45 Breakout:

• The wire order must go negative, positive, signal
• The three wires must always go into adjacent terminal screw holes
• Always leave a gap of one screw hole between sensors if you are using two on the same breakout

Connect an ethernet cable from the breakout into Port 1 or Port 2, then patch the channel to a Sensor Input channel in COGS.

5v outputs on a sensor port

If a sensor requires a 5v powered counterpart (e.g. a laser or an IR beam), connect it to the first two screw terminals of a sensor channel, missing out the signal line. That channel will just power the device constantly and cannot be used as an input.
